How to Request EXW, FOB, CIF or CFR Quotes for Solar Street Lights

Compare the same product, quantity, packing basis and named location before comparing quotation totals. Freight and destination terms become meaningful only after the shipment is defined.

Quick answer

Define the shipment before comparing trade terms

When requesting a solar street light quotation, an importer should identify the selected models, quantity per model, packing requirements, destination port and preferred trade term. EXW uses a named collection location; FOB uses a confirmed loading port, such as Qingdao or Nansha; CIF and CFR add ocean freight to a named destination port, with the agreed insurance requirement included under CIF but not CFR. Final freight, local destination charges, transit time and quotation validity must be confirmed for the specific shipment and current forwarding schedule.

Start with comparable inputs

What the importer should confirm first

A trade term cannot correct an incomplete product request. Use the same shipment facts for every quotation being compared.

Quantity by modelEstimated pieces for each model, the total order quantity and whether a mixed order is being requested.
Packing basisStandard or customized packing, carton count, dimensions, gross weight and shipment volume when confirmed.
Named locationsCollection location, loading port or destination port, written clearly with the requested trade term.
TimingRequired shipment date and quotation-validity needs. Final production and freight timing remain subject to confirmation.
CustomizationOEM, customer logo, color box, outer carton and instruction-manual requirements that may affect packing or schedule.

Trade-term overview

EXW, FOB, CIF and CFR answer different logistics questions

This is general purchasing guidance. The named place or port, current Incoterms rule and formal quotation determine the actual order scope.

Quotation basisNamed locationWhat the buyer must verify
EXWNamed collection locationPickup, export arrangements, onward transport and every cost included or excluded from the supplier quotation
FOBNamed loading port, such as Qingdao or Nansha when confirmedOrigin scope, shipment handover, ocean freight exclusion and the exact named port
CFRNamed destination portOcean-freight scope, insurance arranged separately, destination charges and import responsibilities
CIFNamed destination portOcean-freight and agreed insurance scope, destination charges and import responsibilities

EXW

Use an EXW request when pickup control is important

An EXW request begins with a named collection location. The buyer should ask which packing and loading activities are included and identify who will arrange pickup, export procedures and onward transport. Do not compare an EXW product amount directly with a port or destination quotation without adding the missing logistics scope.

FOB Qingdao or Nansha

Use a named loading port for an FOB comparison

FOB must identify a loading port. Qingdao and Nansha are usual shipment ports used by Minglong, but the applicable port and included origin scope must be confirmed for each order. An FOB amount does not include ocean freight or destination costs. The buyer or nominated forwarder should provide the booking and shipping instructions required for the confirmed shipment.

CIF or CFR

Name the destination port and separate freight from destination charges

CIF and CFR requests must state the named destination port. Both can include ocean freight within the agreed quotation scope; CIF also includes the agreed cargo-insurance requirement, while CFR does not. The buyer should not assume that import clearance, duties, taxes, port handling or local delivery are included. Although freight is arranged to the destination port, buyers should also understand the contractual risk-transfer point stated by the applicable rule and quotation.

Real enquiry example

Why a Chattogram quotation still needs shipment details

Destination alone is not enough for a current freight calculation.

An importer requesting CIF or CFR Chattogram should first provide the selected models, quantity per model, packing requirements and purchasing schedule. CIF Chattogram can be reviewed subject to the resulting packing data, shipment volume and current freight. CFR Chattogram may also be discussed and must be confirmed in the formal quotation. No freight amount, transit time, destination charge or quotation-validity period is fixed on this page.

How Philippine Importers Should Request a Solar Street Light Quote to Manila

A USD product request and a Manila delivery request require different confirmed inputs.

Quick answer

To request a solar street light price and shipping quotation to Manila, a Philippine importer should identify the required model or catalogue wattage direction, split or all-in-one format, quantity per model and intended application. The buyer should also specify whether the destination is Manila Port for a conditional CIF quotation or a complete delivery address for a separately reviewed delivery request. USD product prices, freight, duties, taxes, local charges, transit time and any door-to-door scope can only be confirmed after the product, packing, destination and service responsibilities are defined.

A request for both a USD product price and the cost of receiving the goods in Manila is not ready for calculation until the product and shipment are defined. The buyer should state whether split or all-in-one solar street lights are required, identify the model or catalogue wattage direction, describe the application and provide an estimated quantity for each model. A catalogue wattage label does not establish actual LED power, light output, runtime or road suitability.

The destination must also be precise. `Manila` can mean Manila Port or a complete delivery address. A CIF Manila Port quotation is not the same as a landed-cost or door-to-door quotation. Import duties, taxes, customs clearance, destination-port charges and local delivery are not assumed to be included unless each item is expressly confirmed.

Qingdao and Nansha are usual shipment ports used by Minglong, but the applicable loading port must be confirmed for each order. CIF Manila may be reviewed after model, quantity and packing information are available. Any door-to-door request requires a complete address and separate confirmation of logistics availability, responsibilities and charges; no door-to-door capability is promised on this page.

Comparison discipline

Compare the complete quotation basis line by line

A lower total is not meaningful if the product or logistics scope is different.

CheckKeep the comparison consistentDo not assume
ProductSame exact model and configurationA similar housing or catalogue wattage is the same product
QuantitySame quantity per model and total orderMOQ applies identically to every mixed order
PackingSame standard or customized packing basisOEM packing has no effect on cost or schedule
RouteSame named origin or destination portFOB, CIF and CFR totals cover the same services
ValiditySame quotation date or stated validity periodFreight and schedules remain fixed without confirmation

Importer FAQ

Questions before choosing a quotation basis

Each answer below is identical to the proposed FAQPage structured data.

What information is needed for a solar street light shipping quotation?

Provide the selected model and configuration, quantity per model, destination port, preferred trade term, required shipment date and any OEM or customized-packing requirements. Packing dimensions, carton count, gross weight and shipment volume should be confirmed before final freight is calculated.

What is the difference between an EXW and FOB Qingdao or Nansha quotation?

An EXW quotation uses a named collection location and leaves more pickup and logistics arrangements to the buyer. An FOB Qingdao or FOB Nansha quotation uses the confirmed port as the named loading port and includes only the responsibilities stated for that term and formal quotation. Ocean freight and destination costs should not be inferred from the FOB amount.

What is the difference between CIF and CFR for solar street light imports?

Both CIF and CFR use a named destination port and include ocean freight under the agreed quotation scope. CIF also includes the agreed cargo-insurance requirement, while CFR does not. Import clearance, duties and local destination charges must be checked separately rather than assumed.

Can Minglong quote CIF or CFR Chattogram?

CIF Chattogram can be reviewed subject to the selected models, packing data, shipment volume and current freight. CFR Chattogram may also be discussed and must be confirmed in the formal quotation. Freight, transit time, destination charges and validity are not fixed until the shipment details are available.

Why can two suppliers' CIF quotations not be compared by total price alone?

The quotations may use different models, configurations, quantities, packing assumptions, insurance scope, freight schedules, destination-charge exclusions or validity dates. Compare the complete product and shipment basis line by line before treating one total as lower or higher.

What information is needed for a solar street light quote to the Philippines?

Provide the split or all-in-one product direction, selected model or catalogue wattage direction, application, quantity per model, packing requirements and preferred quotation basis. Also state whether the destination is Manila Port or provide the complete delivery address if a separately reviewed delivery service is being requested.

Can Minglong provide a USD solar street light product price?

USD product pricing can be prepared after the selected model, configuration, quantity and packing requirements are confirmed. This page does not publish a fixed price because different models, configurations, quantities and customization requirements can produce different quotation lines.

Is a CIF Manila quotation the same as landed cost in the Philippines?

No. A CIF Manila Port quotation covers only the scope stated for the named port and formal quotation. Import duties, taxes, customs clearance, destination-port charges and local delivery should not be treated as included unless they are expressly identified. A complete landed-cost calculation requires confirmed product, freight, destination and import-cost information.

Can Minglong provide door-to-door delivery to Manila?

A door-to-door request can be reviewed only after the buyer provides a complete delivery address, selected models, quantities and packing information. Service availability, included charges, customs responsibilities and delivery scope must be confirmed with the applicable logistics provider and formal quotation. Door-to-door capability is not guaranteed on this page.

Will the shipment leave from Qingdao or Nansha?

Qingdao and Nansha are usual shipment ports used by Minglong, but the applicable loading port must be confirmed for each order. Product location, packing, shipment arrangement, freight options and the agreed trade term can affect the final port shown in the quotation.
